Testimonials

Repetiteur and Conducting Opportunities

” I was accepted on the Jette Parker programme at Covent Garden as a conductor and repetiteur….I’m sure it was due in no small part to the experience I gained at Clonter!

Paul Wingfied,Repetiteur 2010

Orchestral Opportunities

“To learn and perform seminal operatic works in this setting is a challenging yet very valuable experience and I can’t think of any such opportunities in the North West”. Learning the repertoire where all parts are essentially solo parts, has been great experience for us, and many of us have gone on to become regular freelancers with Opera North for example- if not permanent members. Both last year’s and this year’s leaders are in the first violin section there!”

Work Experience – Stage Manager

” Sarah was the Stage Manager for Cosi Fan Tutte with Sir Thomas Allen, a wonderful experience for her to be “in charge” of the stage management team! She has only just finished her third round of La Traviata as Deputy Stage Manager and she is now in rehearsals for Rusalka. Sarah always remembers, that it is owing to you giving her Work Experience which took her down to London and she progressed from there. She has met some wonderful conductors and world class Opera singers including Placido. (2012)
Sarah was appointed (sic Deputy Stage Manager for Royal Ballet) at the end of last week. There were over 100 applications and she was down to the last six. “ (2014)
Sarah Woodward is now a Stage Manager for the Royal Ballet (2016)”

Morag Woodward,(Ex Head of Performing Arts at Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School)

Work Experience – Marketing and Administration

“Due to the experience and knowledge I have acquired by assisting with Clonter’s marketing and administration, I have now been successful in obtaining a place on a six month marketing placement at the Royal Shakespeare Company. Despite gaining a first class degree at university and developing a wide range of working skills, I would not have achieved this significant step towards a career in the arts without the specific experience provided by Clonter. I believe it is essential that smaller arts organisations such as Clonter are able to continue to provide this level of support, particularly as larger companies are often less easily accessible in the early stages of career development”.
