How To Leave A Gift To Clonter
REMEMBERING CLONTER IN YOUR WILL
Most people, having taken legal advice, consider one of the following gifts:
RESIDUARY LEGACY: This is a gift of the remainder or percentage of your estate after all other legacies have been made and debts cleared. Residuary legacies keep pace with inflation and are an effective way to divide the value of an estate between a number of people and causes that are important to you.
PECUNIARY LEGACY: A gift of a fixed sum of money. The value of pecuniary legacies will decrease over time, as the cost of living increases.
HOW WILL WE USE YOUR GIFT?
Donations which are made for “core costs” are of particular benefit to Clonter, as they can be utilised where they are most needed to support the work that we do with emerging artists, young people and the community. However, if you have a particular aspect of our work in mind, please do let us know.
IF YOU HAVE ALREADY MADE A WILL
If you have already made a will, you can still help Clonter by adding a codicil to your existing will. There is no limit on how many codicils you may make, but the codicil will need to be signed and witnessed in the same way as your will. We would advise that you consult a solicitor, which need not be expensive, to ensure your wishes are professionally executed.
INHERITANCE TAX
All charitable legacies are free from inheritance tax. Furthermore, if your estate is worth more than £325,000 (or £650,000 for a couple), you can limit the amount of inheritance tax you pay by leaving a gift to charity. If you are able to leave 10% of your estate to charity, the inheritance tax rate is reduced to 36%.
