We couldn’t be more delighted to welcome back Ben Somers for Clonter’s first Ramsey Room Session of the year.

Ben Somers came to take part in one of the Crossover Festivals at Clonter, returning to entertain a Ramsey Room Session audience pre-Covid, and entertained a Clonter audience on line during. He will now return to treat you to an extraordinary musical journey as a now renowned father-son duo, Steve & Ben Somers! They will be joined by Rob Updegraff on electric guitar and Wesley Gibbens on the snare. With credits including Glen Campbell, Taylor Swift, Johnny Cash, The Time-Jumpers, Dr. John, and Seal, and as the featured house band on ‘The Last Leg’, their talent knows no bounds. Immerse yourself in the magic of tradition and innovation as they sing and yodel in perfect harmony, offering a rich blend of folk, country, Americana, blues, and Western swing. Steve, won the TV talent show ‘New Faces’ in 1978 and hasn’t looked back since. He has recorded and toured with the likes of Glen Campbell, Johnny Cash, Don Everly, Dwight Yoakam, Lulu, Lonnie Donegan, Billie Jo Spears, The Settlers, Diane Solomon and many more. Ben Somers is active as a creative and in-demand session musician. His credits include Pop Music icons Seal, Taylor Swift, Mika, Micheal Bolton, Americana legends The Time-Jumpers, Bruce Molsky, English Folk royalty Eliza & Martin Carthy, Jazz luminaries Dr John, Gareth Lockrance, Kate Williams, Melt Yourself Down, and he has released numerous albums under his own name spanning Jazz/New Orleans Brass Band, Bluegrass and Country Music. Rob Updegraff on guitar is currently playing in London’s West End as part of the band for the musical with music written by Richard Hawley ‘Standing At The Sky’s Edge’, he has also recorded and toured with Jamie Cullum, Joshua Hedley and more. Their drummer Wesley Gibbens (originally from South Africa) is a member of The Darius Brubeck Quartet.

Drink Arrangements – Please note that any drink consumed inside the premises must be purchased from the bar. For Friends and Patrons of Clonter who wish to bring their own drink, a corkage fee of £4 per person will apply (payable in advance on 01260 224514).

Dining Options –  Hot bar snacks – Sausage rolls and cheese and onion pasties, locally made (Mandevilles of Holmes Chapel) – Available to purchase on the night.
